Certificate of Analysis

A single-page Certificate of Analysis from the fictional Meridian Analytical Laboratories, in a navy + slate palette. It shows how the [latex] inline tag carries real scientific notation straight inside ordinary paragraphs and table cells — no images, all selectable text.

The sample-identification block renders the molecular formula [latex]ce{NaHCO3}[/latex] and molar mass [latex]pu{84.01 g/mol}[/latex]; the results table reports the assay as [latex]pu{99.7 %}[/latex] with green pass styling; and the method section sets the neutralisation [latex]ce{NaHCO3 + HCl -> NaCl + H2O + CO2}[/latex] above the mass-fraction equation [latex]w = frac{c cdot V cdot M}{m} cdot 100[/latex] and the expanded-uncertainty formula [latex]U = k frac{s}{sqrt{n}}[/latex].

Three flavours of notation, one tag:

  • Math — fractions, roots, super/subscripts, Greek: [latex]frac{-b pm sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}[/latex]. Variables render italic, the way mathematicians expect.
  • Chemistryce{…} (backslash-free mhchem): upright element symbols, auto-subscripted counts, charges, reaction arrows, states and isotopes — [latex]ce{SO4^2-}[/latex], [latex]ce{^{14}_{6}C}[/latex].
  • Physical quantitiespu{…}: a value plus upright units with correct spacing, scientific notation and exponents — [latex]pu{1.6e-19 C}[/latex], [latex]pu{9.81 m/s^2}[/latex].

[math] is accepted as an alias of [latex]. Everything is laid out in-house from the font's OpenType MATH table and emitted as embedded, subset, selectable text — so equations copy, search and reflow like the prose around them.

Around the science, the certificate carries the full document machinery: a canvas-drawn accreditation seal with curved text, Code 128 + Data Matrix traceability barcodes, a fillable AcroForm sign-off (analyst/QA signatures, dates, a release checkbox), a watermark, and a running footer — all driven from a companion *.data.json via data binding.
