Reaction Kinetics & Equilibria

A physical-chemistry formulary for a fictional chemistry institute, from one declarative JSON source — reactions, kinetics and thermodynamics side by side with the equations that govern them.

  • Reaction equations. The chemistry shortcode ce{...} sets balanced equations with automatic subscripts and arrows — ce{2 H2 + O2 -> 2 H2O} — and isotopic decay with pre-scripts, ce{^{14}_{6}C -> ^{14}_{7}N + e^-}.
  • Equilibrium and rate laws. The equilibrium constant, the first-order integrated rate law [A](t) = [A]_{0} e^{-kt}, and the half-life t_{1/2} = ln 2 / k.
  • Arrhenius and thermodynamics. k = A e^{- E_{a} / (R T)} and the Gibbs relation Delta G = Delta H - T Delta S.
  • Acid-base equilibria. pH and the Henderson-Hasselbalch relation.
  • A real radical. The Stokes-Einstein molecular radius sqrt[3]{...}, set with a proper extensible vinculum over the radicand; the standalone cube-root glyph is supplied by the STIX coverage font, which Latin Modern Math lacks.
  • Dressed as a publication. A drawn academic crest, a SPECIMEN watermark, an Aztec verification mark, and a vertical EAN-13 ISSN spine mounted in the margin via a rotated canvas group.

Glyphs are positioned from the font's OpenType MATH table and written into the PDF as selectable, searchable text — never a flattened image.
